May 6, 2010. A blue tarp was installed over the building, cutting off fresh air to apartments and intensifying the toxic smell from chemicals applied to remove paint. Workers said they were going to remove the paint-stripping chemicals that had been applied to the outside of the building. No notice was given to tenants to warn them to close their windows prior to leaving their apartments in the morning to minimize odor and debris in their living spaces.
